And the waves splash ‘cross the lazy hull
Where the blue of the sea and the azure sky
Contend to enliven the delightful lull
On this cruise of delight through cheerful splash
Let my soul rejoice in this Utopian bliss!
There is an oar that once rowed on sweat pronounc’d
This lies by removed of its ungainly flounce
For a balmy breeze – now guides my mast though
More stormy waters might lie unannounced
On our way – the course for my Boat and the Man
Weathered and afloat in symbiosis!
The Man helps the Boat steer and the Boat steers the Man –
A course set in relentless motion since the Sun began,
And stars set their guidance for nighttime fleet!
So aloft rose these eyes to the twinkling skies
To seek direction from those sparkling eyes;
And so do we drift through diverse life –
My Boat and the Man!
