Thousands walk the city in black and through
whites of their eyes see silence in the march
of life. Yet pheromones on path guide true
to mounds of food that lie 'neath distant arch.
Steel and concrete stare at the sky that’s hazed,
earth lives in earthen bowls and left to freeze,
you sweat under the plant the sun has glazed,
and walk across paths undisturbed by breeze.
In distant land, a boy wakes to the sounds
of happy birds that nest in green landscape.
Silence in context moves on different grounds.
Wait patiently, time shall come and escape.
In time peace comes to your brow that once frowned;
the more the noise, more the silence profound!
