Sand drifts from world off on adjacent ones
when patient hourglass is set to count.Rolling by transient siblings, each grain
meets the end of upside down existence.
To release components through narrow stem,
to watch gold melt on golden turf beneath,
to fade away with other restless forms,
and build textures on slowly forming heap.
Keep watch until the last grain settles down
through all engulfing capillary tube;
and now the cone keeps fondest watch upon
the channel where it left a world behind.
Then flip the hourglass when nothing moves
and watch the cycle repeat in delight.
